Submission + - UK startup Colocker reinvents the data centre (colocker.com) 15
An anonymous reader writes: Data centre colocation services have been around for years but one UK startup, Colocker, has reinvented the market with its new locker-based solution allowing clients to host any device they can imagine free from the constraints of traditional 19" equipment.
The Colocker facility, based in Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire UK, is the first of its type in the world and provides clients with a secure 364x316x427mm locker in which to host absolutely anything. Suggestions so far have ranged from HP's line of micro servers right through to NAS storage units, Mac Minis and even Raspberry Pi's.
Each locker comes with a UPS-backed mains power feed and a gigabit Ethernet connection to the Internet. Users are free to add their own switch and power distribution if they wish to host multiple devices. Those already imagining the endless possibilities will be pleased to hear that pricing is per locker, regardless of its contents.
